Cracking Open the Lockbox of Talent
See: Howard Gardner’s response to the Edge 2009 question.
What is talent? If you ask the average grade school teacher to identify her most talented student, she is likely to reject the question: “All my students are equally talented.” But of course, this answer is rubbish.
It’s well-worth reading the whole thing.
On the whole, I think the Edge responses vary wildly in quality. Some are thought-provoking and insightful, while others contain glaring logical errors and sloppy thinking. It’s worth looking through them, but I wouldn’t suggest taking the project in itself seriously.
