Basically, Eliezer seems to be claiming that BPP = P (or possibly something stronger), which most people think is probably true, but, as has been said, no-one can prove.

And there’s nothing wrong with that – as long as you make it clear that you’re stepping beyond what can be shown, and speaking from belief rather than knowledge.

There’s a great deal wrong with representing your personal beliefs as factual claims that some people refuse to accept. That steps into the territory of religion and other social diseases.

  1. Who are you quoting and from where? What’s BPP and what’s P?

  2. Saying that “it is not universally recognized” is just a roundabout way of saying that it’s a personal belief that can’t be supported by reference to logical argument.
