Thoughts on listening to NPR:
‘Marketplace’, and the world news segments, are really the only valuable things on NPR.
There was an economist guest speaker tonight who briefly addressed the nature of the economic crisis on ‘Marketplace’. She made the points that government intervention rarely solves problems and usually makes things worse, either through unintended side effects or simple failure, and that despite a long history of rhetoric about reducing the size of government and the deficit, both have consistency increased over the past fifty years.
Then she pointed out that those points have been pointed out over and over again — not by politicians or the special interest groups that supposedly can influence them, but by economists. And no one ever listens.
Right on, ma’am. Right on.
